Pizzini Wine

Savouring Tradition: The Distinctive Italian Essence of Pizzini Wines.

Natalie Pizzini, the passionate voice behind Pizzini Wines, comes from a family with a rich heritage in Italian winemaking. With over 30 years of grape growing and winemaking expertise, the Pizzini family has established themselves as pioneers of Italian wines in Australia. We had the pleasure of speaking with Natalie to learn more about their exceptional wines and the inspirations that drive the Pizzini Family.

The Pizzini family moved from northern Italy to the picturesque King Valley in the early 1960s, initially the family grew tobacco, but began to diversify to vines in the later 1970s, planting traditional Italian grape varieties including Sangiovese and Nebbiolo. Over time, they expanded their range to include Pinot Grigio, Prosecco, Arneis and Brachetto. Pizzini wines are renowned for their lighter style – this helps the wines to pair perfectly with food and convivial conversations.

My Nonna Rosetta and Nonno Alfred Pizzini moved from northern Italy to the King Valley in the early 1960s. They were one of the first winemakers to introduce Italian grape varieties to Australia.

What sets Pizzini Wines apart is their distinctive approach. While they may be lighter on the palate and exhibit fewer fruit characters compared to wines like Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay, they captivate connoisseurs with their savoury flavours, soft gentle tannins and exceptional ability to enhance a meal. Pizzini Wines presents a delightful challenge to the palate, offering refreshing departures from the more fruit-driven and weighty profiles of other varietals.

Embracing the beauty and heritage of the King Valley, Victoria - Pizzini Wines are from the spiritual home of Italian grape varieties in Australia! It is a long narrow valley, where the rolling hills flow effortlessly to the pristine King River. Regardless of the season, the valley's beauty shines through, with its enchanting colours and breathtaking landscapes. Even during winter, when the hillsides display muted greens and the vines take on hues of brown, the King Valley remains an awe-inspiring sight.

The story of Pizzini Wines is a testament to the family's unwavering dedication to their Italian winemaking heritage. Pizzini Wines continue to captivate wine enthusiasts and instil a deep appreciation for the world of Italian varietals in the heart of Australia.

Nonna Rosetta – she is my greatest inspiration. She came to Australia with her husband and very young family, not knowing a word of English, she worked so hard to build a future for the next generations. She was strong, she has left a legacy that all of the family members aspire to – not just the females!
